A Romantic Summer Wedding at Rocky Creek | Fox Glacier Wedding Venue

One of the things we love most about hosting weddings at Rocky Creek is that every celebration tells a different story. In February 2026, we welcomed a wonderful couple from Christchurch for a heartfelt wedding that brought together family, friends and generations of memories.

With around 100 guests, their special day was filled with warmth, laughter and a beautiful connection to the land where they celebrated.

Although the couple now call Christchurch home, the venue held special significance for the groom, John. His grandparents once owned the land surrounding Rocky Creek, making it an incredibly meaningful place to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter together.

It was a wonderful reminder that some wedding venues are more than just beautiful locations—they're places where family history and new memories come together.

The bride chose a stunning palette of rust and burnt orange tones, bringing warmth and richness to the celebration. These earthy colours paired beautifully with the native West Coast landscape, creating an elegant setting that perfectly suited a late summer wedding.

A Relaxed Celebration with Incredible Local Food

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Café Neve, one of the West Coast's favourite local caterers. Instead of a traditional spit roast, the menu featured beautifully prepared lamb served restaurant-style, offering a relaxed dining experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

From Light Rain to a Perfect Evening

Like many weddings on New Zealand's West Coast, the day began with a little uncertainty as light rain and overcast skies rolled through. Thankfully, the showers were only brief and never interrupted the celebrations.

By early evening, the skies had cleared, revealing a beautiful night that allowed guests to enjoy both the outdoor spaces and the rustic hangar. The combination of indoor and outdoor areas meant the celebration flowed effortlessly throughout the evening.

Dancing the Night Away

As the sun set, guests gathered for an evening of live music, with a fantastic band keeping the dance floor full well into the night.

The relaxed atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and joyful celebration made it one of those weddings that everyone will remember for years to come.
